Barbara J. Chavis, 79. Sunrise: March 26, 1940 – Sunset: August 6, 2019. Born in Taylor Station, OH, she was the daughter of John and Dorothy Neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Miller Chavis Sr., beloved son William Miller Chavis Jr. Brothers William (Shingeko) Neighbors, Ernest (Dorothy) Neighbors, Roland Elliot Neighbors, Roger O’Dell Neighbors. Sisters Ruth (Earl) Hughes, Dorothy (Daniel) Walton, Karol (David) Ragland, Edith Marie Neighbors.
Barbara accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Reverend C. H. Lucas of Columbus, OH. She was a member of 7th Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. Barbara attended Gahanna Public Schools. She was employed at the Trolley restaurant, she also worked for the State of Ohio, and was a supervisor at the Royal Blue Supermarket for many years.
Barbara was affectionately known as “Bobbi”. Bobbi was an avid reader and loved to write beautiful poetry. She also had a beautiful talent of being able to draw and sketch. She loved animals of all kinds. Bobbi will be remembered for her warm personality and mothering spirit. She was always ready to lend a listening ear with understanding and no passing of judgement.
She departed this life on August 6, 2019. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters Althea (Victor) Flood, Trina (Brian) Mason, Shawn (Robert) Merrill, Marla (Curtiss) Evans and son, Kevin (Tracey Chavis); 16 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Sisters Evelyn (Charles) Ore and Darlene Mason and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to acknowledge special friend Patricia Needum, 7th Avenue Church Family and Pastor Robey and First Lady Vanessa Robey.

Family will receive friends Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 10am until time of service 11am at White's Chapel. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
