Barbara Cochran

Barbara Ann Cochran was born on June 11, 1946 to Mac E. Sr. and Willa A. Cochran in Columbus, OH. She was called home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2019.

Barbara attended Columbus Public Schools and she graduated from North High School. She also obtained an Associates Degree in Business from Columbus Business University (which is now Columbus State Community College). She worked various positions until she was hired with the Ohio Department of Health (State of Ohio). Barbara was a dedicated employee of 35 years of public service when she retired in 2005. However, never one to stay still long; she attended Everest Technical Institute where she obtained her certificate and became a Home Health Aide and took care of several patients.

Sister Barbara/Mother Cochran was a faithful member of the former Mt. Vernon Avenue Baptist Church where she served as a Trustee, a member of the Pastors Aide, and on the Senior Usher Board. Upon the union of the Mt. Vernon and New Zion; which is now Unity Baptist Church, she continued her service for the Lord. She served as the President of the Culinary Ministry prior to becoming ill. She enjoyed taking care of all of the culinary needs of our church. She also served as a Nurse with the Health and Wellness Ministry and she enjoyed the activities of the Seasoned Saints Ministry.

Barbara also enjoyed bowling, traveling with Friends From the Hood, spending time celebrating life and special occasions with family and many friends. Most of all, she enjoyed serving the Lord; she had a big heart full of love for everyone. Her spiritual gift was to love and take care of people. Barbara leaves to cherish her memories; her son; Terry Cochran, Daughters; Cheryl Streets, Tamiko Cochran and Stephanie Davenport (Keith), her grandchildren; Chad Pendergrass, Mykah Streets, Kiara Boyer, Khiry Peoples, Kennedy Peoples, Keith and Kevin Davenport. Her Sister and best friend; Lee Ester Coleman.  Also, a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends.

Family will receive friends Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 9am until time of service at 10am at Unity Baptist Church, 1358 Mt. Vernon Ave., Cols, OH  43203.  Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements by WHITE’S FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 867 S.
