Claude Richard Cochran II, 79, of Columbus, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Mount Carmel St. Ann's. He was born April 23, 1939 in Thorpe, West Virginia to the late Claude R. Cochran and Jewel (Valentine) Cochran. He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara A. (Cochran) Hairston.
Claude moved to Buffalo at an early age. He graduated from Burgard High School in Buffalo, New York. Claude was in the military for several years, spending a lot of time in Germany. After the military, Claude joined the work force at General Motors and retired after 32 years. Following retirement Claude, his wife Elizabeth and son Ryan, moved to Erie, Pennsylvania. He joined Shiloh Baptist Church. IN Erie, Claude became a volunteer in the Food Pantry and served for six years.
He and his family moved to Columbus, Ohio and Claude joined the Food Pantry at New Salem; once again, doing what he loved. Claude also was a member of the Male Chorus and participated until his health became a problem. He served on the Trustee Board for six years.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Cochran, sons Ryan Christian and Niels Bergerac, sister Audrey J. (Cochran) Christopher, nephew Tyrone F. (Deborah) Christopher Jr., nieces April D. Christopher, Patrice Yvette Hendricks and a host of grand nieces and nephews. His final resting place will be in Buffalo, New York.
Family will receive friends Monday, March 4, 2019 at 12pm until time of service at 1pm at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 2956 Cleveland Ave., Cols, OH 43224.
