Mr. Cresundo Dupri Whitaker was born on June 4, 1985 to the late Michael Ruff and Cheveon Whitaker, in Columbus, Ohio. Before his relocation to Atlanta, GA, he attended his freshman and sophomore years at Mifflin High School where he earned his varsity letter in soccer. He graduated from Avondale High School in Dekalb County, Georgia in 2003. Cresundo was baptized and received the gift of the Holy Ghost during Vacation Bible School in 1997 at the Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith where he actively participated in Sunday School, the Bible Bowl Team, Apostolic Youth for Christ (A.Y.C.), and served as a Junior Church helper. Upon his relocation to Georgia in 2001, he became a member of the Israel of God (I.O.G.) where he served as a member of the youth choir. He was employed by Henry V Marketing and Communications as a Brand Ambassador, where he traveled extensively promoting various brands. When he wasn’t on assignment, and in his spare time, Cresundo was a freelance movie reviewer which he took very seriously. Because of his bright and outgoing personality and fun-spirit, he would sometimes dress in character while sharing his thoughts and opinions of different movies. Cresundo loved life, laughter, family, friends, travel, and adventure. He took his health seriously as he believed in being physically fit and eating right. He also had a passion for writing and a desire to become an author which few people knew. There wasn’t any place that he would go where he didn’t make friends and leave an impact. In every sense, he truly lived up to his name.
On August 5, 2019, Cresundo lost his life in a paddleboard accident in Orcas Island, Washington. He is preceded in death by his father, Michael Ruff, paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ruff, and maternal great-grandmother, Onell Hunter.
He leaves to cherish his memory mother, Cheveon Whitaker, brothers, Calrissian (Stephanie) Whitaker and Armon (Courtney) Whitaker, grandmother, Juanita Whitaker, great-grandmother, Beatrice Banks, aunt Tameko Martin, nephews, Calrissian, Jr., Justus, Armon II, and Kyrie, cousin, Isaiah Martin, special friend Myesha Jenkins and her children, Jameela, Alexis, and Julaar, and a host of extended family and a multitude of friends.
I KNOW A SMILE THAT HAS TRAVELED MANY MILES
I KNOW A SMILE THAT INFECTED MANY LIVES
I KNOW A SMILE THAT HAS WATERED SEEDS OF LOVE WITH OUR TEARS
THE SMILE WILL CONTINUE TO GROW THROUGH THE YEARS
THE SMILE IS A BRIGHT BEAM OF LIGHT THAT SHINES
CLOSE OR FAR THE SMILE IS LIKE A STAR
I KNOW A SMILE THAT WOULD SPEAK WITH OUT WORDS
WITH ITS OWN EXPRESSION WITH ITS OWN MEANING
I KNOW A SMILE THAT CAN BE HEARD AND FELT FROM AFAR, WHILE EMBRACING AND COMFORTING
I KNOW A SMILE THAT LIVED ON TOP OF THE WORLD AND DID NOT DEAL WITH TIME
I KNOW A MAN THAT POSSEsSED THIS SMILE IN HIS HEART, NO GUILE
THE SMILE CRESUNDOS TO THIS DAY
THE MILLION DOLLAR SMILE IS THE SHYNDO WAY!
