Gwendolyn Sue Gray Obituary

Minister Gwendolyn Sue (Hall) Gray was born June 21, 1943 in Zanesville, Ohio to the proud parents of William Hall and Leila Jones.  She was the fourth of five children. She departed this life on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at St. Ann’s Hospital.

Minister Gray attended Zanesville High School. She was active in the marching band, played the B-flat clarinet, and graduated with high honors. She continued to pursue her love for music in piano lessons.

Sister Sue, as she was called, met Phillip Gray and they were married in July 1972. She was employed by the Kroger Bakery in Columbus, Ohio and later worked for the State of Ohio, Development Center, nursing duties, where she retired.

Minister Sue Gray received the gift of the Holy Ghost in October 1965 under the late Bishop Karl F. Smith and was a long-time member of the Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith where she was active in the choir, served on the usher board, missionary department, and was a teacher in various churches. Sister Sue was a licensed minister of the Pentecostal Assembly of the World (PAW).

She was a member of the former Zion Hill prayer band and attended the Monday morning prayer band. She took the time out of her busy schedule to visit seniors in nursing homes in the Columbus, Ohio surrounding area.

Sue exemplified the gift of “helps”. She has assisted and helped with many missionary projects in Africa for Bishop John Coles church in Sierra Leone, West Africa with Grace Apostolic Church for Bishop James Gaiters, also in Haiti, India, and Sudan.

She gave food to the hungry (both natural and spiritual), ANYONE that had a need, Sis. Sue was there. Her life was a ministry!

Minister Gray graduated from Bishop Edgar Posey’s school for public speaking. She attended homiletic classes at Elder James Edwards New Hope Community Worship Center. Sister Sue was a gifted poet. She shared many of her poems to those she encountered. She worked aggressively to get them published.

Sister Sue loved working with flowers. She attended floral arrangement classes and begin making  arrangements for many weddings of friends and families.

She had two dogs that she loved dearly, Pudgie and Precious Lady.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Hall and Leila Jones; sisters Mary Dansby and Viola Turner; brothers, Feddy Jones, Ferdenan Jones; nephews, Bobby Dansby and Micheal Dansby; neice Leila Bulger; great grandchild, Sophia White;

She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Joyce (Paul) Christian, Tasia (Doug) White, Cedric Gray, Kyland Gray; grandchildren, (Bunky) Vernon Miller 4th, Akira White, Corey White, Tavionna Hill, Tavon Wilder; great grandchildren, Kaleo Miller, Corben White, Brielle Cline; sister, Joyce Jones, Godson, Eld. DelMetrius Taylor and a host of relatives, friends, and church family.

Family will receive friends Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 11:00am until time of service at 12:00pm at the Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith, 1200 Brentnell Avenue, Columbus, OH 43219.
