Jimmie (Danny) Carper son of the late Fred and Louise Carper, was born December 14, 1950 in Kelly’s Tank, West Virginia.
He attended Mercer County public schools and was a graduate of Park Central High School where he excelled in basketball. In 2014 he was inducted into the West Virginia All Black Schools Sports and Academics Hall of Fame. Shortly after graduating high school he joined the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War.
He fell asleep in death on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Louise Carper, his brothers Eddie Dean and William Timothy Carper and sister Vera Hale.
He is survived by brothers Freddie (Joanne) and Joseph Lee (Anna) Carper and sister, Elizabeth Washington of West Virginia. Also survived by six children Katherine Williams, James (Sandra) Grady, Qusandra (Jeffrey) Ricks-Davis, Sherrita Tucker, Danyel Carper and Melissa Carper, fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held February 12, 2019 at White’s Funeral and Cremation Services, 867 S James road, Columbus Oh 43227.
