Julia Cade-Poellintz Obituary

“Julia Estella Cade Poellintz”

Born on March 3, 1931, in Hugo, Alabama, to the late Clark Cade, Sr., and Clara Virginia Cade, where there were ten children born into this union.

Julia went home to live with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at 9:00am in her home in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, at the age of 87.

Julia accepted Christ at an early age in Thomaston, Alabama, and she continued her faith until the time of her passing. She was a member of the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church under Dr. Keith A. Troy’s leadership.

Julia relocated to Pickerington, Ohio, after her husband’s death in 2001 to be close to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Julia attended the Marengo County Training Academy. She took employment as a child care provider in Belle Glade, Florida, for several years before she returned to Thomaston, Alabama, where she married the late Eddie Lee Poellintz on February 20, 1960, whereby seven children were born to this union.

Julia was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She had a heart of gold when it came to family, and she extended her help and love to everyone who needed her.

Julia kept her family laughing even as she worked hard raising her children and cooking three meals a day. She always kept her house, children and herself immaculate in appearance.

In 2008, Julia began a new journey as she battled Parkinson’s disease until the time of her death. Julia never lost her faith as she stayed encouraged and humble. Also, she remained a tower of strength for her family.

As Julia moved into the joy of eternal life, she has left to cherish her loving and devoted children: Maude (Baxter) Hill, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; Aron Cade, Hattieburg, Mississippi; Lorraine (Mitchell) Simon, Hattieburg, Mississippi; Romelia Poellintz, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; Ivan Lee (Hollie Hinds) Poelintz, Detroit, Michigan; Rev. Barry (Wanda) Poellintz, Pickerington, Ohio; Diane Poellintz, Upper Arlington, Ohio; Gloria Jean (Kevin) Anderson, Gallion, Alabama; Kathy (Derrick) Jones, Birmingham, Alabama.

Julia raised two grandchildren as her own: Nathaniel Poellintz O’Rear, Jr., and Nikki Poellintz O’ Rear.

Julia cherished 44 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; Ethel (Clark) Cade, Sr., the oldest sister-in-law in the family of more than 79 years; Hazel (Moses) Fritz, Detroit, Michigan; Bonnie (Charles) Mason, Detroit, Michigan; Chaney (Roy) Winfield, Long Island, New York.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Clark, Sr., and Clara Cade; husband Eddie Lee Poellintz; sons Eddie Lee Poellintz, Jr., and Nathaniel Poellintz, sisters Betty Irene Williams, Carrie Sommerville, Hattie Mae Collins, Maxine Evans, Mable Spratt; brothers Jimmie Lee Cade, Clark Cade, Sr., Libert Cade, Sr., Cleveland Grover Cade, Sr.; sister-in-law Hattie Louise Cade, Eunice Cade, Ida Maiden Cade; granddaughter Kimberly Wendy Hylton; mother-in-law Lucy Perkins.

Julia was the last family member in the Cade generation that reaches back from 1860 until 2019.
