Margaret Collier Obituary

Life's Reflections

A TIME TO BE BORN Margaret Windham-Collier's journey began September 26, 1952; she was born to Donniel Windham mother and biological father O.W. Windham in Laurel, Mississippi. Margaret was the youngest of three children, Brother Emmett Windham and Brother Earnest Windham Sr.

A TIME TO LIVE Margaret, fondly known as "Nana" by all her grandbabies, relocated from Mississippi to Columbus, Ohio with her family as a child. She graduated from Central High School. She moved to Chicago, Illinois where she fell in love with and married Dell Collier. For a time she worked on the Oprah Show as a secretary, and started training to join the Chicago police department. She and her children would relocate back to Ohio to live with her mother. As the sole provider for her children Margaret never stayed idle, she worked many jobs in her life. She was a preschool teacher for many years, loved and was loved by the children she taught. She worked as a legal secretary for Frost, Brown & Todd. She would go on to work at Kroger where she was loved by coworkers and customers alike, known as "Miss Margaret". Regulars would bring her home cooked food and she would be greeted by the occasional hug from children she used to teach. She retired after 15 years of service.

Margaret loved her children and was a devoted mother and provider. She was friendly, hard working, strong willed, quick witted and had a wonderful sense of humor. She wasn't a material person and had a strong faith in God. She loved visits from her grandbabies, enjoyed chatting, playing cards with her friends and the occasional trip to the casino.

Margaret loved her home. It was her mother's home where she and her brothers were raised. It is the home where she raised her children and has been passed down to her daughter.

A TIME TO LOVE Margaret had a special love for her family daughter Marika Collier, her son's Dennis Collier, Dell Collier Jr. She is preceded in death by parents Donniel & Clint Wood, Biological father O.W. Windham; grandparents Mathew and Roena Russell Sr.; brother Earnest Windham Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory brother Emmett Windham; her grandbabies Chauncey Malachi Collier, Ryan William Boykin Jr., Rymaria Margaret Boykin, Dell Collier III, Isis Collier, Imeer Collier; Son In-law Ryan Boykin Sr.; Sister In-law Janet Windham and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A TIME TO DEPART Margaret "Nana" flew softly into the arms of God on May 10, 2019 where she " Is Finally Home".
