Margaret Louise (Cannon) Minter was born January 23, 1934 in Smyrna Tennessee to Graton and Emma Cannon.
Margaret graduated from Holloway High School, in Rutherford County Tennessee, in 1953 as class Salutatorian. She was employed by the Columbus Public School system for over twenty years until her retirement in 1994.
Margaret loved working in her flower garden. She loved to travel, loved sewing neck pillows, lap throws, back pillows, bibs etc., for the sewing service for Gillie Senior Recreation Center. All items were given to the Vitas Healthcare Hospice program. She also loved being with her friends, especially the “Red and Black” alumni of Holloway High School.
Margaret departed this life after a long struggle at her home in “comfort” care through Heartland Hospice program, December 20, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Mary Katherine Swett and Barbara Stafford; brothers Elvie Waller Sr., James Cannon and Charles Cannon.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memories her three sons, David (Cheryl), Juhuty, and Drew; step-daughter Faith Alexander (Willie); sisters Sara Ann Taylor (Eddie) of San Antonio, Texas and Helen “Polly” Cannon of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; brother Graton Cannon Jr. of Lavergne, Tennessee; at one time a beloved spouse and now a cherished friend Charles Minter; close friends Dorothy Orr of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Linda Wilson of Columbus, Ohio; twelve grandkids, twelve great-grandkids; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family will receive friends Friday, January 3, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at the Chapel of White's. Interment Evergreen Burial Park.
