Shigeko S. Powell

Shigeko S. Powell, age 87, was born March 10, 1932 to the late Shinzaburo and Shizu Sakamoto in Amagasaki-shi, Japan. Preceded in death by seven siblings and son, Ronald. She departed this life on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Grant Medical Center. 

Shigeko attended Tachibana primary and secondary schools until being forced to quit in order to help support her family after the war. 

Shigeko was united in marriage, her second, to Felix L. Powell on June 14, 1961. To this union, they adopted Timothy and Ronald.

At her passing, she belonged to Esther Chapter No. 3, OES.

She leaves to cherish her memory, husband of 58 years, Felix L. Powell; sons Misao (Japan) and Timothy; daughter, Akemi (Japan); sisters, Kazumi (Carl) and Hifumi (Japan); favorite sister-in-law, Phyllis (Ron); eight grandchildren and may other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 6:00pm until time of service at 7:00pm at the Chapel of White's. Interment Dayton National Cemetery.
