Shirley Golden

Pastor Shirley Annette Williams-Golden of Columbus Ohio was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday Morning, August 21, 2019. A Pastor after God’s own heart, she was the Founder and Senior Pastor of Deliverance Temple of Faith Mission in Columbus, Ohio. As a Gospel Trailblazer, and Revivalist, Pastor Shirley Williams-Golden’s work on the evangelistic field allowed her to minister in numerous states, as well as her local community. She was well known as the Evangelist who was always adorned in pure white ecclesiastical attire; an instruction she was given by God, when she accepted her call as a minister. Pastor Golden boldly preached the unadulterated word of God when and wherever an opportunity presented itself.  Her gift of helps and encouragement allowed her to mentor many new pastors, young men and women as they accepted their call to the ministry

Her powerful words “IT’S ALL ABOUT SOULS” are firmly etched in our memory.  Her ultimate goal in this life was to Proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world and to win many souls to Christ.  A lesson which she not only proclaimed but lived and accomplished.   Her favorite scripture was, Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him. Psalm 34:8. 

Having grown up on the east side of Columbus, she received her formal education in the Columbus Public School System and later attended The Ohio State University.  As an entrepreneur, and licensed herbalist, she was the President and CEO of SHIRGOLD; a health and wellness company with its emphasis on specialty herbal teas and spices from the Holy Bible.  As a student of God’s word, she taught wholeness not only for the spiritual man but for the natural man also.  As an author, she published her book entitled “To Know God is to Love Him” in 2015. She was an experienced cook and seamstress and always enjoyed sharing her love of cooking with friends and family.

Pastor Shirley Annette Golden’s love for her entire family was and always will remain unfailing and immeasurable until the end of time.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Golden I, parents; Mr. John Harvey Williams and Mrs. Bertha Steele-Williams, grandparents; Mr. & Mrs. Boyce and Nettie Steele, brother; Elder Donald H. Williams, aunt; Mary Steele-Embly and grandson, Mr. Joel B. Golden.   

She leaves to cherish her memory, sons; Charles A. Golden, II, Germantown, MD., Mark A. (Sharon)Golden I, Martinsburg, WV., daughters, Linda Golden-Coburn, San Antonio, TX., Sarah A. Golden, Columbus, Ohio. Sister, Evangelist Barbara Carole (John Robert) Merrill, sister-in-law, Patricia Ann Williams.  Grandchildren, Henry, Mark II, Jessica (Darnell), Ariel, Charles III and Apollos.  Great grandchildren, Carmen, Amelia and Niko. Spiritual daughter and caregiver, Elder Alberta Simpson; spiritual daughter, Elder Cher’e Freeman;    Caregiver and dear cousin, Elder Cynthia Wright.

 A host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends, too numerous to mention.
