Wilbur Harris, Jr. Obituary

Wilbur R. Harris, Jr., (87) of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2020.  He was born on November 1, 1932 to the late Wilbur R. Harris, Sr., and Ruth Arlene Harris. He is survived by a brother, Captain David E. Harris; 3 children: Tia Ranelle Harris Roseboro; Phala Arlene Talbert (Todd); Kyle James Harris (Jonise); 4 grandchildren: Shelbi Harris, Alexander Roseboro, Isaiah Harris, Trey Talbert, 1 great-grandson: Terence Xier Toone; 3 step-children: Michael Anthony Anderson, Linda Marie Anderson and Anna Victoria Anderson; 1 step-grandson, Adrian Shepherd; 2 nieces: Camien (John) Foley, Leslie Germaine.

Wilbur graduated from the Ohio University High School in 1950 and later attended college at The Ohio State University.  Wilbur was drafted into the US Army and served as a Honor Guard in the Arlington National Cemetery Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

For several years, Wilbur was the Manager of the F&R Lazarus Auto Accessories department and later he became the Manager of the Ohio Bell/Ameritech Transportation Division where he retired. He was an awesome handyman and was always willing to help where needed as there was nothing he couldn’t repair.  Some of his favorite things were watching sports especially Ohio State football, basketball and listening to jazz music.

As many of you know, Wil was a member of The Concord Choir of Second Baptist Church and The Paul Lawrence Dunbar Choir in which he was a phenomenal tenor.

Wil was also a member of this church, serving as a trustee and a faithful choir member.

Anyone who knew Wil knew he was a gracious man with a kind spirit and a warm heart.  There are no words to express how much he will be greatly missed.
