Aletha (Spann) Johnson was born on April 30, 1956, in Savannah Georgia to the late Anna L. Samuel and Henry Spann.  The family relocated to Columbus Ohio in 1957 where Aletha remained until the time of her departure.  Aletha was the second oldest of seven children and educated in the Columbus City School District where she graduated in 1974 from Columbus North High School. Aletha was baptized at an early age under the Pastorate of Reverend James Terry.  In recent years and until the time of her death, Aletha was affiliated with the ministry of The Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Columbus Ohio, Suffragan Bishop Harold E. Rayford Pastor.

Aletha was a 20-year employee of the James Cancer Hospital (Columbus Ohio) and retired in 2017.  Aletha was an avid sports fan and you could always find her glued to her television watching, tennis, track, and basketball.  However, her love for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team was her claim to fame.  She watched each game with excitement and anticipation of a win, yelling and rooting for her team until the final second of each game.  Go Bucks!!!

Aletha was preceded in death by her parents, Anna L Samuel (James D. Samuel Jr.), and Henry Spann.  She is survived by her husband Steven L. Johnson Sr., children, Natasha (Warren) Cornelius, Justin A. Bristol (Chynna Gibbs), stepsons Steven L. Jr. & Feness Alexander Johnson, six-grandchildren, one great grandson, siblings Henry Spann Jr. (Elaine Allen), Columbus Ohio, Ronnie (Sharon) Spann Stone mountain GA, Jeanell (Aaron) Turner, Annie Spann, Wendy Spann and Troy (Chiquita) Samuel, all Columbus Ohio, 5 nieces and 6 nephews, 13 great nieces and nephews, and 5 great-great nieces, nephew, cousins, other relatives and many special friends.

Aletha was a beautiful person inside and out who loved and cherished her family.  She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and her dog Gigi.
