On February 24th, 2021, God sent one of His angels to bring Alfred Jordan, Sr. "Popon" to his wife Princess. His family deeply loved him, and that love will forever last in their hearts and memories.
Alfred Jordan, Sr. was born on April 16th, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio, to the late George and Vandella Jordan. Alfred was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Princess Jordan and his siblings David, Ambrose, Jerry, Homer, Floyd, Irene, Lennie, and Viola.
Alfred was an accomplished, successful, determined, strong and passionate, self-made man. He was raised in Columbus, Ohio and attended East High School. He was one of the top high school football prospects in Ohio after his high school years. Amongst many of his accomplishments, he created the Mini Basketball League for players 6 feet and under. He was the first, black, custom home general contractor in Ohio, where he built homes for over 25 years. In 1996, with his wife of 56 years by his side, they became the first franchisees to bring Popeyes Chicken to Columbus, Ohio. He was the epitome of the phrase, "Where there is a will there's a way."
Daddy, Popon, Uncle Al and all other names of endearment that were known to him, was a very giving man to all. He was funny, a hard worker and always reliable to so many in so many ways. He never met a stranger and was never forgotten by anyone that came in to contact with him. There are so many words and phrases that he said to all so many times that we all remember and to some point live by. We will all remember his big strong voice and large presence.
He is survived by his loving children, Princess LaTanya (Timothy) Thacker, Alfred Jordan, Jr., Ron (Danielle) Jordan, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren and siblings Pastor George Jordan, Andrew Jordan, Eliane Walker, Kathleen Jordan and many other extended family members and friends.
