Family will receive friends on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at White's Funeral and Cremation Services, 867 S. James Road, Columbus, OH 43227. Livestream will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Alta Scott was born to the late Joseph and Sarah Scott on January 1, 1935, in Columbus, Ohio. Alta departed this earthly life on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Wexner Heritage Village. She was 90 years of age. She was preceded in death by father Joseph, mother Sarah, brother Garvin Hadden, sister Ellen Miller, brother Hezekiah Hadden, sister Sarah Sanders.

Alta was educated in the Columbus Public School System, where she graduated from Central High School. She was employed as a teacher’s aide at Paxton’s Play School and Second Avenue Elementary School for years.

At an early age, Alta was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church and later attended Grace Baptist Church. She served on the Sr. Usher Board and taught Bible School.

Alta was naturally very artistic. Among her many talents, she had a love for sewing. She was an excellent seamstress, repairing and designing clothing, she sometimes made her own patterns. She loved to knit and crochet. She loved to draw, paint and make ceramics, and she took several classes in them.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, daughter Kirstin Miller, son Gary (Carla) Scott and son Mark Scott; daughter Cecily Scott; grandson Shaun Scott; grandson Brian (Kerisha) Scott, granddaughter Misty Scott, grandson Rachad (Victoria) Scott, grandson Landen Scott, granddaughter Dalonda Scott, grandson Justin Scott, granddaughter Malaya (Trei) Williams, grandson Julian Scott, grandson Daylon Scott; twin sister Ammer James, sister Carlene Allen and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
