Annette Cecilé Foster Shaw was born August 1, 1952, in Columbus, OH to Sylvester and Janice Foster. She had 2 older brothers, Glenn and Stanley, and a "sister-cousin", Tracie.

At the age of 10, Annette first met her future husband Kenneth “Kenny” Shaw. They had a budding friendship that blossomed into a beautiful love, that was centered in God. Married on September 22, 1974, Kenny and Annette spent 50 happy and blessed years together. Annette was a true woman of virtue and will forever be Kenny's Sweetie. From that union, they had a son, Kenneth Devin Jordan Shaw II, and a daughter, Arianne Verneé Jordan Shaw.

A graduate of West High School, Annette earned a Bachelor's degree in English from Kent State University. She then earned her Master's Degree from The University of Dayton. For 36 years, she served in various roles in the Columbus Public Schools system as a teacher, Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) consultant, and guidance counselor. Her love for education and teaching impacted countless lives and caused her to stand out in many of her student's memories.

She was a woman of many talents and had a knack for finding a song to sing or making one up on the spot, for every situation. She enjoyed traveling, the arts, reading, and picking on loved ones. Food and humor were her love language, and she was both a phenomenal cook and baker. She and Kenny opened their home to family and friends where they were prepared to feed the stomachs and souls of both planned and unplanned visitors. Annette was an avid churchgoer and servant leader. She gave her life to the Lord in 1973 and served as a Sunday school teacher, worship leader, and member of the choir. She walked faithfully with the Lord and allowed Him to work through her. She offered advice without judgment, but that was in line with the word of God and came from a place of love.

She will be remembered for her beautiful spirit, compassion, kindness, humor, quick wit, and undeniable faith. Annette was preceded in death by her parents Sylvester and Janice Foster, brother Stanley Foster, and sisters-in-love Diane Shaw and Penny Foster. She will be extremely missed by her loving husband Kenneth Shaw, brother Glenn (Marchelle) Foster, sister Tracie Pannell, son Kenneth “Devin” (Jennifer) Shaw II, daughter Arianne Shaw (Shawn), bonus children Adrian and Fanee Frederick, grandchildren Taylor, Daniyah, Steffon, Karah, Niles, Warren, Marquesa, Yacobia, Kai, Chase, AJ, and Alana, great-grandchildren Simone, O'Domie, Mari'Zhah, and her very special great-grandson, Karter Shaw, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
