Remember
In loving memory of Azelee Momon Patton Wilson, affectionately known as “Grandma Wilson,” we celebrate a life that touched countless hearts. Born on July 2, 1928, in Appling, Georgia, Azelee was the cherished daughter of Frank and Bertha Harmon Johnson Momon, Sr. and sister to six brothers and five sisters. Her journey was one of love, resilience, and unwavering faith.
Azelee’s life was woven with threads of devotion. In 1944, she exchanged vows with the late John W. Patton, Jr. (fondly called Jackie), and together they welcomed three beautiful children into the world. Their love story was etched in the stars, a testament to enduring commitment.
After Jackie’s passing, Azelee found love once more several years later. She married the late James K. Wilson, creating a new chapter filled with shared laughter, quiet moments, and steadfast companionship. Their love guided them through life’s joys and sorrows, and they remained married until his passing.
Azelee’s heart overflowed with love for her family. Survived by her son, John W. Patton, III (Ann), and daughters JoAnn (Larry) Burton and Rosalind Ebai, she was a pillar of strength. Her siblings: one brother Russell Momon (Mary) and one sister Verdell Wilson (Charles) shared a bond that transcended time and distance. Nieces, nephews, and countless relatives found solace in her warm embrace. Her grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren held the key to her heart, and she loved them like they were her own children. Their laughter echoed in her home, their dreams became hers, and their milestones were her victories. She nurtured their spirits, leaving an indelible mark on generations to come.
Azelee’s faith anchored her soul. In 1943, she joined Trinity Baptist Church, where her unwavering devotion blossomed. She sang hymns, prayed fervently, and found solace in the sanctuary’s hallowed halls. Her faith was a beacon, illuminating her path even as she faced life’s storms.
As we bid farewell to our beloved mother, sister, Grandma Wilson, we remember her laughter, her wisdom, and the love that flowed from her heart. Her legacy lives on in the stories we share, the family gatherings, and the quiet moments when we feel her presence. May her memory be a blessing, and may her spirit continue to guide us as we navigate life’s journey.
