Baldomero Lopez was born September 14, 1959 in Havana, Cuba and passed away January 16, 2021. He is predeceased by his father, Baldomero Lopez, mother, Gladys Travers, Eddie Lee Upchurch and Rudell Upchurch.
Baldomero Lopez was the youngest of two and raised in Havana, Cuba. While living in Havana he enjoyed playing baseball, soccer, spent a lot of time at the beach and worked at his parents' Wedding Shop business. He came to Miami, Florida in 1980, a few years later he moved to Columbus, Ohio. He was known by “Mero”. He became a part of the Upchurch family and was a part of the family for the remainder of his life. He loved spending time with family and friends. One of Mero’s most important priorities was to provide for his family. He enjoyed having talks with his family and always looked forward to each and every visit with his loved ones. Mero was a true giver, he would give you the shirt off of his back, give you advice and give you a hard time if need be. He enjoyed dancing and listening to music. Some of his favorite artists were DJ Quik, Levert, Julio Iglesias, Jodeci, Selena, Uncle Luke and Tupac, just to name a few. Everyone loved eating his special baked pork chop recipe. Some of the best times spent with Mero were on Grasmere Avenue. He had a passion for cars, especially sports cars because he loved driving fast. He will always be remembered for his great, big heart! Mero was a great man and will be greatly missed.
