Betty Jean Davis

Betty Jean Davis, Age 90, transitioned May 2, 2022. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. until the time service at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 428 E. Main Street, Columbus, OH 43215.

Betty Jean Davis was born October 28, 1931 and went home April 2, 2022. She was the second child of Esterlean (Ester) and James Crawford Sr., both preceded her in death, as well as her younger brother Steveador (Steve) Crawford. 

Betty is survived by her sister Lillian Rosebud Patterson (Bud), brother James Crawford Jr. (Brother) and daughter Andrea Renee Davis (Andi).

Betty graduated from Frankfort High School in Frankfort, Ohio, class of 1949, and she and her sister attended reunions as often as they could. 

After high school, she enlisted in the United States Navy and that was a whirlwind. Betty Jean Crawford couldn't swim, worse than that she didn’t like water. Honorably discharged, she returned home to Ohio, bringing with her a husband and child. 

Betty was baptized as a teenager, reaffirmed as an adult, making her membership with Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where she remained a member. Betty’s hands were always busy, whether working as a RT in the Radiology Department at The Ohio State University Hospital, where she retired after many years of service, or bowling for several teams in Columbus and even in Rialto, California (Chee Cho Cos Fresbie Bowlers) 1968-1969; or sewing, printing T-shirts, working on banners for her church, or planting flowers that she loved around her home; and mine. My mother was MY mother, and I had her all to myself, and I thank God for that.
