Calling Hours (only 10 at a time), Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at White's Funeral Home Chapel. The family will not be present during calling hours and masks are required. Private Family Service at 11:15 a.m. Rev. Craig Collins, Eulogist. Interment Glen Rest. The family will receive flowers at the funeral home. Service will be live stream after the casket is closed.
Calvin Curley Collins, Sr. was born October 10, 1936, to the late Everlena (McCrary) and Arthur Collins, Sr. in Macon, Georgia.
Calvin was united in marriage to the late Mary Sue Lake and this union was blessed with five children.
Calvin was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and served faithfully in the Brotherhood Chorus; Laymen Ministry, former Trustee, the Gleaner’s Church School, Food Pantry Ministry, The Lord’s Supper Pageant, and the Transportation Ministry. He also, cooked with the men for Church Anniversary; and taught young teenage boys how to tie a tie during BTU/NBC sessions.
Calvin retired as a Cement Mason where he was a concrete finisher. He formed foundation slabs; sidewalks, highways, roads, curbs, and driveways. He was a member of the Central Ohio Labor Council. He also enjoyed working at Executive Catering with wife, family and friends.
Papa (Calvin) loved the Lord and wanted everyone to be saved. He was a giver to many people, his heart was to serve seniors of the church and community. He loved mentoring young men in the community and the church.
Calvin is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Sue; parents and siblings.
On Thursday, October 22, 2020, the Lord called him to his reward. He leaves to cherish precious memories, sons, Kevin (Damaris) Sr., Calvin (DeVon) Jr. and Craig Collins Sr.; daughters, Robin (Kim) Young, Kellie and Tina Marion Smith; sisters, Elizabeth Anderson and Christine Pryor; brother–in-law James (Loretta) Lake; sister-in-law Victoria (Lendyburgh) Talley; Grandchildren, Anthony, Justin (Ciny) Sr., Kelli, Craig II, Jazmin, Kevin (Elie) II, Michael; 8 great-grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, special nephew Harry Collins; a host of other relatives; and many friends.
