Carole Darlene Moyer was born on March 28, 1946, to District Elder Ernest and Sister Bertha Hardy. She peacefully transitioned to eternal life on June 22, 2026, at her residence.

From an early age, Sister Moyer demonstrated a passion for learning and excellence. She began her education in the Columbus Public School System before transferring to University School, where she graduated from high school. She continued her academic pursuits at The Ohio State University, earning both her Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education.

For nearly five decades, Sister Moyer dedicated her life to shaping the minds and hearts of young learners through Columbus Public Schools. Beginning her career in 1968 as a kindergarten teacher, she faithfully served students for thirty-four years before advancing to the roles of Early Childhood Coordinator and Educational Consultant. Throughout her distinguished career, she became a National Board Certified Teacher, a respected math and science specialist, and recipient of the prestigious Disney Teacher of the Year Award. Her expertise and commitment to educational excellence earned her numerous awards and recognitions.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to education, Sister Moyer was honored with an invitation to the White House during the Clinton Administration, a testament to the lasting impact she made in the field of education. Colleagues, parents, and students alike admired her unwavering commitment to excellence, her innovative spirit, and the genuine love she had for every child she encountered. She often said that God had given her a special gift to be a blessing to children, and she faithfully lived out that calling every day of her life.

While education was her profession, ministry was her life’s calling.

Sister Moyer developed a deep and abiding relationship with the Lord at an early age. She was baptized in Jesus’ Name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at the Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith under the pastorate of Bishop Karl Smith. She later served faithfully under the pastorate of her father, District Elder Ernest L. Hardy, embracing numerous responsibilities within the local church and the Ohio District Council.

A gifted teacher of both Scripture and life, Sister Moyer became one of the most respected Christian educators within the Apostolic community. She faithfully served as Assistant Superintendent of Christian Education for the Ohio District Council and Treasurer of the Ohio District Council Christian Women’s Auxiliary. Her wisdom, organizational leadership, and passion for biblical education influenced generations of pastors, teachers, students, and church leaders throughout Ohio and beyond.

In 1993, Sister Moyer united with Grace Apostolic Church under the pastorate of Bishop James W. Gaiters, Sr. There, she faithfully served as Director of Christian Education and Sunday School Superintendent until her passing. She was instrumental in strengthening the church’s educational ministries and was deeply committed to equipping believers with the Word of God. She coordinated Saturday Morning Prayer, Monday Morning Drive Prayer, and Parents’ Prayer, believing wholeheartedly in the power of prayer to strengthen families and the church. She also joyfully served through the Women’s Ministry, the church kitchen, and outreach efforts to the homeless.

Sister Moyer was regarded by many as a pillar of the Apostolic faith—a woman whose steadfast devotion, unwavering integrity, quiet humility, and servant’s heart left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. She was a mentor, counselor, encourager, and faithful example of Christian living. Her influence reached far beyond the walls of the church, touching countless lives through her prayers, wisdom, compassionate spirit, and unwavering commitment to serving God and others.

Family was one of Sister Moyer’s greatest treasures. She was a devoted and loving mother to her beloved son, Kevin, and later found immense joy in being “Grandma” to her cherished grandchildren, Maria and Noah, and her great-grandson, El. She was an enthusiastic supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes, and many treasured Saturdays were spent with family cheering on the Buckeyes at football games. She loved to travel and embraced every opportunity to “fly the friendly skies.” An avid walker and fitness enthusiast, she enjoyed staying active and could often be seen walking through her neighborhood.

Sister Moyer’s legacy is one of faith, service, education, leadership, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Whether in the classroom, the sanctuary, or the community, she exemplified excellence and inspired others to become all God had called them to be. Her life was a living testimony of what it means to faithfully serve both God and humanity.

Sister Moyer was preceded in death by her parents, District Elder Ernest and Sister Bertha Hardy, and her beloved son, Kevin Ernest Moyer.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her granddaughter, Maria Moyer; grandson, Noah Moyer; great grandson, Eltarro; daughter-in-law, Nicole Moyer; sister, Marcia (Bishop James) Gaiters Sr.; brothers, Clifton Hardy, Thailand, and Jonathan Hardy, of San Antonio, Texas; nieces, Nicole Darlene Gaiters and Dawne (Robert) Hill, Kyana Gartrell; nephews, James (Myra) Gaiters and Seth (Candace) Gaiters, Torrey (Shani) Hardy, Marc Hardy and Scott (Veronica) Hardy; godson, James (Allicia) Totten; special friends, JoAnn Sigers. Roger and Gail Totten; and a host of beloved relatives, church family, colleagues, former students, and friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing her.

Though Sister Moyer has answered the Master’s call from labor to reward, the seeds she planted will continue to bear fruit for generations to come. Her life was a testimony of faithful service, steadfast devotion, and unwavering love for God and His people. While her earthly labor has ended, the lives she influenced and the ministry she poured into will continue to bear witness to a life well lived, a faith well kept, and a servant deeply loved. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who follow in the path she so faithfully walked.
