The Celebration of Life for Cecil F. Mitchell, Jr. will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Berwick Manor Banquet & Catering, 3250 Refugee Road, Columbus, Ohio 43232.

Cecil F. Mitchell Jr. Obituary

Cecil Frazier Mitchell, Jr. was born on March 12, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio to Cecil F. Mitchell, Sr. and Ethel “Toni” Mitchell. As their only child, he and his parents were always close and devoted to one another. His parents preceded him in death, his father in 2023 and his mother in 2024.

Cecil graduated from Columbus Academy in 1981, and as a Glenna Joyce Scholarship recipient he attended The Ohio State University. He transferred to Michigan State University in East Lansing, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

His career in IT Security included Electronic Data Systems with General Motors, State of Michigan, City of Columbus and various consultant opportunities. Health issues forced Cecil into early retirement.

Throughout his life, Cecil studied and enjoyed music. He was an accomplished pianist and singer. Sharing his talents with others brought him much joy. Also, photography was an interest and hobby for him.

Cecil married Darin Morton on February 4, 2023. With this union, he inherited bonus children, Nathan, Elizabeth and Hannah. Additionally, he is survived by many cousins in Columbus, Connecticut, Maryland, Georgia, and Alabama, as well as friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time. Arrangements will be posted once completed.
