Clifford Shannon Johnston sunrise April 27, 1957 – Sunset August 1, 2020 peacefully at his residence. Clifford was born in Newark, Ohio to the late Carol Shannon Johnston and Mamie Ruth Elliot Johnston. Clifford attended Newark High School and was a star baseball player. After the early death of his father, the family moved to Columbus Ohio, where he attended Cols. East High School until he enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corp Special Ops Unit. Clifford was scheduled to tryout for the Cincinnati Reds before his back injury. Clifford was also preceded in death by his late parents, brother James, sisters Linda Jean, Robin Denise, Montel Sherice, Pamela Foster, nephews Trilane, Clifford, Steven, Dwayne, and niece Yolanda.
Clifford leaves to cherish his memory of his Best friend of 50 years, devoted wife caretaker, Lori Pace-Johnston; children Angela Royster, Johnny R. and Jessica M. Pace, as well as bonus son, Mike Lunsford; brother Billy Johnston, sisters, Carolyn Johnston, Martie Johnston and Tonya Johnston; six grandchildren, Charisse, Kym, Chance, Amere, Janih’ya and Antonio; four great grandchildren. Clifford and Lori parented a total of twelve great nieces and nephews; Kyajah, Kyounna, Kyoun, Kia, Kyah, Kanye, Kamar, Hakeem, Rasheem, Kareem, Armoni and Lalarra; brother in laws Lee Foster, John (Tina) Barnett, sister In law, Marcella J. (Robert) Eskridge; lifetime friends Nard Allen, Kim Royster, Stuart Strother; devoted cousins, Vera Lynn Pleasant, Tekia Straughter and Sheena White; traveling escort, nephew Robert Williams; family support nieces, India Johnston and Marcia Harris; Aunts, Marie Shacklford, Edwina Flemister, Shirley Allen, Betty Thompson, Gloria Elliott, Gladys Elliot, Erma Eliott. Charlene Boxter; Uncles Freddie Elliott, John Elliott, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Clifford was an avid Horseman. He loved sports, chess, dominoes, cards, video gaming, gambling, gardening, and movies. He had a passion for music. His last best days were spent traveling with his wife and Barbequing at home. There was no greater movie buff than him!
