Curtis Rodger Harris Obituary

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith, 1200 Brentnell Avenue, Columbus, OH 43219. Interment: Union Cemetery. Livestream will begin at 11:00 a.m.


Curtis R. Harris, born on July 17th 1942 to Elmer and Marybelle Harris in Gillivan, Ohio. He departed this life on  April 2, 2026 at Riverside Hospital, in Columbus Ohio, surrounded by his loved ones.


He attended school Fayette County and graduated from Miami Trace High School. He  enlisted in the Air force and served. He then attended The Ohio State University here in Columbus, Ohio and met Kathlyne Diane Hayes while playing basketball. 


They married on September 30th 1967 and to this union were born 2 sons. 


He worked and retired from The city of Columbus Sewers and Drains as a supervisor for over  30 years. 


He was an avid sports enthusiast playing softball and was a part of a bowling league and would play basketball. He also was a football coach for a little league team that his son Shawn was a part of. He also would enjoy playing golf. He loved and was very proud of his family and loved to support his sons either by attending concerts where Kevin would be the musician or following Shawn during his college and semi pro football day, but the love of his life was his wife who he took care of right until the end. 


He was proceeded in death by his parents, Elmer and Marybelle Harris, his brother, Virgil Bennett, his sister Geraldine (Beanie) Evans. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 58 years, Kathlyne Diane Harris and two sons, Kevin Delane, Odenton Maryland  and Shawn Robert, Columbus Ohio. His sister Vivian (Jerry) Thomas of Washington Court House and brother Gene Kelly (Brenda) Harris of Bloomingburg Ohio; Brother in law Robert Hayes of Columbus Ohio and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins;  also and adopted daughter Tisha Coles . A very good friend Robert (Grace) Major and a good friend also like his son Rick Minturn and and adopted grand daughter Carlee Coles, and a host of friends.
