Calling Hours (only 10 at a time), Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at White's Funeral Home Chapel. The family will not be present during calling hours and mask are required. 

Private Family Service (50 maximum) at 11:15 a.m.  Pastor Robert McCaskill, Eulogist. Service will be livestreamed after the family is seated. Family will receive flowers at funeral home.

Mr. Curtis Leander Slater, was born on August 6, 1944 in Maysville, Ky to the late Mary Warner Davis and Leander Slater. Curt, or “Curt Lee,” as he was affectionately known to his family departed life on Monday, September 14, 2020 at home surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 76.

Curt grew up in Maysville lauded as an outstanding athlete and friend, and anyone who knew him, will tell you that he was a consummate and devoted sports fan, especially to his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes! During sports seasons, Curt could often be found either watching games from his home or attending a variety of sporting events. Curt truly loved all kinds of sports!

Curt’s dedication to service is unparalleled. He completed a four-year term of service in the United States Air Force in 1967 setting the standard of military service for his family. He also retired from the United States Postal Service after 41 years of faithful service, while simultaneously completing a 40-year career in real estate helping entrepreneurs launch and expand businesses. Finally, the countless thoughtful acts of service to his family, friends and neighbors demonstrates his commitment to serving others in everything he did.

Curt is preceded in death by his parents Leander Slater and Mary Davis, two siblings, Shirley Slater and Anthony “Tony” Davis.

He leaves behind his life partner, Roselle King; one brother, Charles E. (Georgia) Davis; Six children: Mollie Kelso; Kimberly (Ali) Highsmith; Karen (Torey) Powell; Curtis L. Slater, Jr.; Philip Slater; Idallis Slater; bonus son, Jason (Charmaine) Kimble; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family to celebrate his life.

Dad fought like a true lion. He never complained, but quietly endured to ensure that his homegoing reflected his devotion to his deepest value—Family. He left this world surrounded by his family and the legacy he created.
