Family will received friends on Thursday December 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at White's Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment: Evergreen Burial Park. 

Deborah Marie Coles, 73, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. She was born to James E. and Goldie B. Braxton on March 27, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio. Deborah grew up in the Bronzeville neighborhood of the near eastside and attended East High School and graduate of Central High School.

Deborah was a dedicated employee of the Ohio State University Facilities Management Department, where she worked until her retirement. Outside of her career, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially hanging out with her beloved grandchildren. Music was a special passion of hers, and she found joy in its rhythms throughout her life.

Deborah was preceded in death by her mother, Goldie B. Braxton; her father, James E. Braxton; her sons, Hugh R. Coles Jr., affectionately known as HR and Frank Coles; her grandfather, Paul J. Washington; grandmother, Josephine Washington; her sister, Sheila Harrison; grandson, Hughlane Coles; and great-granddaughter, Zylah L. White.

She is survived by her son, Keith (Tawanna) Frazier; daughter, Hope Coles; siblings, Earl (Virginia) Braxton, Ronald (Gwendolyn) Braxton, Brian Braxton, Emanuel Braxton, Paula Braxton, Craig (Troia) Braxton, and DeEdra Braxton; along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will cherish her memory.
