Obituary Delores A. Mills (Mom, Grandma, Auntie, Doshie)

Delores A. Mills was born in Eckman, West Virginia on April 4, 1942, to Fletcher and Rebecca Smith. She was a student in the West Virginia school district. She was an ALL-STAR cheerleader for Elkhorn High School where she later graduated in 1960.

After graduation she moved to Columbus Ohio to be with her older siblings.  She was employed for a brief moment at Western Electric.  She later moved on to work for The Ohio State University-Rainey Commons as a cook. She was employed there for 10 years. Delores enjoyed caring for children and decided to pursue a career as an independent childcare provider which she established in her home. Delores was dedicated to helping others and became a foster parent for Franklin County Children Services.

Delores was a member of Upper Room Church of God, Columbus, OH under the late Bishop Marian Wooden where she received salvation and was filled with the Holy Ghost.  Delores became a member of the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ, Apostolic Faith Inc. where she served as a faithful member for 45 years under the leadership of the late pastors, Bishop I.W. Hamiter, Bishop George Steele, and Pastor Olivia Hamiter. Delores served faithfully on the Hospitality Ministry and Choir.  Within the last year, she attended church with her son Andre Mills, at Fresh Oil Christian Center under the leadership of Apostle Kelvin W. Parker Sr. and (Lady Tawanna Parker). She really enjoyed the praise and worship.

Delores was married to James T. Mills for over 32 years. They had four children from this union Karen Smith, Antoine Mills, Kimberly Mills, and Andre Mills.

Delores enjoyed cooking, cleaning, shopping and spending time with family. Delores had a big heart, and she opened her home too many to receive either a hot meal or just a warm place to lay their head. Delores selflessly helped so many people.

Delores was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Smith; her father, Fletcher Smith; her son, Antoine Mills; her daughter, Kimberly Mills; her brothers, William Smith and Gene Smith; her sister, Arlene Lee.
