Memorial Service will take place on Friday, June 19th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Praise Temple Community Church, 2618 Bethesda Ave, Columbus, OH 43219. 

Denice Lorraine Crowley was born on September 4, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio to Lorraine Carruthers and Bruce Fletcher.  She departed this life on Monday, June 1, 2026. 

Denice received her formal education in the Columbus City Schools.  She received numerous certificates and awards during her K-12 education.  After she graduated from high school, she attended Ohio Wesleyan College in Delaware, Ohio.  Once she moved to Georgia, she completed her studies at DeKalb College obtaining an Associate’s Degree of Psychology.  During her time at DeKalb College, she remained on the Dean’s List each quarter with a 3.5 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale.  As such, she was inducted into the collegiate academic honor society of Phi Theta Kappa Sorority. 

She had various jobs throughout her career which included Western Union, the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission as the Project Management Technician, and Walgreens as the Store Manager with over twelve years of service.  Denice was recognized throughout her career for her hard work, customer service, and tenacity to get the job done.  She was dedicated and determine to make everything and every situation better. 

One of the running conversations in the “Sister Cousin Auntie Group” is whether her name is officially spelled with an “s” or a “c” as in De-nice.  The world will never know.  Denice had an awesome smile and an infectious laugh. She was our premier family photographer.  No one was safe when she had a camera or camera phone in her hand.  She successfully captured the memories of our family at every event.  Denice had a way of bringing people together which is evident in the many new relationships have been established over the past two weeks.  We are forever grateful. 

She loved to sing.  Her favorite color was lavender.  Her morning routine began only when she had her first cup of coffee.  She was a coffee lover. Every week she had a date with her dad to play Bid Wiz and/or Spades where she always reported that he was cheating.  To hear her talk about it or read her texts about their time together caused you to feel the joy that time brought her.  She loved family and continually took care of family throughout her life. 

Denice is proceeded in death by her mother, Lorraine Fletcher.  She leaves to cherish her memory her father, Bruce Fletcher, brothers and sisters Matthew Crowley Sr, Mark Angel Crowley, Dale Crowley, Sonora (Julio) Rodriguez, Bruce Fletcher, Ernest (Maleka) W. Smith, Paul (Marlene) Robinson, Bridgett (Slyvester) Norman, Angela Williams, and Daryl (Denise) Vauvghters.

The Matriarchs that survive her are Gladys Steward, Prudence Oliver, Darlene Saxton, Verdie Maynus, Betty Pinkney and Linda Carruthers and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
