Dolores J. Steward went home to Jesus on Friday, May 15, 2020 at age 78. Dolores was born to Eleanor and Fred Reeder on May 24th, 1941 in Columbus, OH. As a child, she enjoyed dancing, roller skating, and ten cent movies on Sundays. She was known to be smart, demur, and adored by everyone she met.
Dolores met her husband, Harry Steward in 1955 after her sister Margaret, insisted they meet on a walk home from school. She didn’t say much, but she didn’t need to. They married four years later in 1959 and went on to build a legacy of love, laughter, exemplary partnership, and unshakable faith. They were so close, that finishing each other’s sentences, and reading each other’s thoughts was commonplace.
Affectionately known as Maw Maw, Dolores was a dedicated and loving mother, and also an adoring grandmother. She nurtured her children and grandchildren with a precious and unconditional love that made every hug, and every plate of food become the very essence of home.
She made herself a career of over 30 years at The Ohio Company, while raising her three children, and serving as a devout member of Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She served on the usher board and later became a deaconess at her new church home, Zion Christian Assembly.
Dolores joins her parents Eleanor and Fredrick, brothers Donald, and Jerry in Heaven. She is survived by her husband, Harry Steward, her children, Shawn, Bryan (Shelly), and Stefanie (Steve), her 9 grandchildren Olivia, Jamaal, Sydney, Isaiah, Steven, Jason, Juston, Samuel, and Seth, and her sister Margaret, and brother Johnny. She will also be missed by her mother-in-law Gustava Biggs, sisters in laws Najiyyah, Saundra, Flayvella, Leatrice, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
