Dominic Lewis Obituary

Dominic Camren Lamont Lewis was born June 20, 1991 in Columbus, Ohio. He unexpectedly transitioned home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2020. We honor his kind, loving and gentle spirit.

A fun loving, confident, quiet but strong soul, Dominic was a talented rapper and along with his cousins, formed the popular positive rap group L and B Rappers. An accomplished artist, he composed, produced and sang many original songs. He was also an extremely gifted saxophonist who often played with his cousins at church. Accepting Christ at an early age, Dominic was a lifelong member of the Hosack Street Baptist Church.

As a student, Dominic had a spirit of excellence and maintained high scholastic standards. He loved learning and had a brilliant mind as well as a creative and loving spirit. His most favorite thing to do was watch historical videos and documentaries, talk about politics and the state of the Black community. He was an extremely conscious and proud young Black man. Dominic graduated from the Arts & College Preparatory Academy (ACAP) in 2009 and went on to attend Central State University, majoring in Political Science.

A dedicated father, he absolutely loved his children and spent as much time with them as he possibly could. Dominic loved his family and was a particularly hard worker. He would do anything for anyone that requested and when asked “what’s the charge”; he would always say “whatever you like.”

Preceded in death by his great grandparents Cesheloia and James Whiteside, Rosa and Richard Lewis, his grandfather Eric Burbage and his sister Cena Lewis. Dominic leaves as his legacy his daughter, Jayda Kamryn La’Naya Lewis and sons Kaedan Michael Lee Lewis and Jaece Matthew Lamont Lewis. He leaves to celebrate his memory mother Errika Lewis, father Darrel Grady and step-father Eric LeVan Burbage; sisters  Simone Lewis and Ishmani Grady; Grandparents Nadine and Thomas Lewis and Grandmother Lynn Burbage; aunts Traci Lewis, Sandey Byrd, Deidra Grady, Stacy Burbage, Linda Benson, Barbara Hairston, Melissa Whiteside, Alice (T.J.) Bell, Anna (Eugene) Patterson, Tereasia McElroy and Kathryn Lewis; Uncles Larry Whiteside, Clarence Byrd and Aaron Burbage; nieces Niyanna and Iyla Woodfolk; Godparents Barbara Hairston and L. “Tommy” Jenkins; special friend Michele Davenport and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Dominic, your mother will never in her life stop loving you. Your step-father will forever hold you close to his heart and your sister will never forget the memories you made together. You are greatly loved and family and friends are in disbelief and pained beyond measure. You now fly amongst the angels and are the wind beneath our wings. We aren’t worried… we know you’re in God’s hands and that our Cee Cee’s got you too!
