Donald Evans

Donald Odell Evans, Age 65, was called from labor to reward by our Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 30, 2020.  He was born on July 24, 1954 to Edmund Jack and Elizabeth (Featherstone) Evans in Columbus, Ohio.  He attended Roosevelt Jr. High School and South High School. 

Donny was head cook and supervisor at the Engine House No. 5; a local restaurant as well as at the Clarmont Restaurant and Columbus City Schools.   He was a licensed minister at Resurrection Ministries for all People under the leadership of Bishop Mel Griffin.  Later in life, he served as an Elder with Trinity @ The Eastern Gate Church in Pickerington, Ohio where Dr. Tim Burden is Sr. Pastor.  He served as the Church Van Driver for many faithful years and often ministered to his passengers placed in his care, both young and Seniors in need of encouragement.  He was always ready to lend a helpful hand where needed, and oftentimes with little to no acknowledgement. 

He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed good nature competition with his friends defending their teams.  His favorite pastimes were backgammon, spades and bid whist. 

Donny was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Edmond Evans, Jr.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Rosetta (Knight); 4 daughters, Angela, Yolanda, Frita and Dana; his brothers Jack and Mark (Karlene) ; Sisters Brenda, and Elizabeth (Peaches) Evans; a host of Grand-children, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Great Grands, Great Nieces and Great Nephews, many other relatives, church family and many friends.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 11am, Trinity at The Eastern Gate, 6389 Blacklick Eastern Road NW, Pickington, OH 43147. Bishop Mel Griffin, Officiant.
