Dwayne David Reed

Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m. at Temple of Faith, 1441 Brentnell Avenue, Columbus, OH 43219. Pastor Kenny Johnson, Eulogist.

Dwayne David Reed was born on October 6, 1958.  He passed away unexpectedly from Sudden Cardiac Arrest at Mt. Carmel St. Annes Hospital, Thursday July 28, 2023.

Dwayne (David) AKA as “The Blade” had a good sense of humor and was a very loving and giving person as well as friendly to everyone! He met no strangers!  David drove for the COTA Bus system and retired after 30 years. 

David attended Roosevelt HS and graduated from Roth High School in Dayton, Ohio.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central State University in music.  David had a God-Given Gift for playing trumpet and piano!  No one could play “Somewhere Over the Rainbow like David on a piano! 

He loved music, fishing, landscaping, and spending time with family watching football games, Western Movies and Family Feud with his sister/guardian Donna!

David was a member of Resurrection Ministries (Bishop Mel Griffin) and later became a member of Union Tabernacle Church of God (Pastor Kenny Johnson) where he played the piano and directed the Male Chorus. David was a dedicated Christian and loved writing original songs such as: “Will You Be Ready When He Comes.”  To Know David was to Love David!

Survivors: Evelyn "Jody" Heard, Vernon Reed Jr., Keith (Tracy) Reed Sr., Donna (Bishop Mel) Reed Griffin, Steven Reed, Phillip Reed, Reyna, Floy Reed and a host of nieces and nephews.
