Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 15 at 8:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 461 St. Clair Avenue, Columbus, OH 43203. Interment: Greenlawn Cemetery.

Ein Martin Johnson Sr. was born on March 7, 1985, to Stephen and Paula Burgess in Columbus, OH, and was named by his Aunt Pamela Turner. Ein passed away on June 1, 2024, at 39.

At a young age, he was continuously the “Life of the Party” no matter what activity he was involved in. Growing up, Ein spent much of his time at Beatty Recreation Center where he found his love for sports, met his best friends, began drumming for African Beginnings Children’s Dance Ensemble (ABCDE), and where you could hear his infectious laugh.

Ein attended East High School, where he continued his love for sports and played Varsity tennis, soccer, and basketball. At East High School, Ein met Destiny Simpkins and fell in love.

In 2016, Ein obtained his Janitorial Service Administration and Skill Building Certification in Basic Business from Marion Technical College.

Ein began working for Halt Violence in 2023 as a Street Mentor to help intervene violence throughout different distinctive communities around Columbus, OH. It would be normal to see him at recreation centers, libraries, and even sporting events talking with the youth.

Ein loved to spend time with his family and loved ones. Wherever there was music, you could always find Ein dancing and being “The Life of the Party”.

Ein was preceded in death by his mother, Paula Burgess; his maternal and paternal grandparents, Paul R. and Paris (Bowman) Taylor Sr., Lawrence and Mary Burgess; uncle, William Burgess and special relatives Christopher Taylor and Len Medley.

Ein leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Destiny (Simpkins) Johnson; children Donisty Poindexter, Ein Johnson Jr., Emonie Johnson, and Braylein Johnson; granddaughter, A’Miri Likely; father, Stephen Burgess; siblings, Yvonne Taylor, Gregory Johnson, Michael Johnson, Donald Langston, Evette Langston, Matthew Johnson, Mikkel Johnson, Kara Johnson, Eli (Tanisha) Johnson, Parris Johnson, Tamar Johnson, Dionne Johnson, Kela Johnson, Tomeka Howell, and Carmen Mitchell, special friend Kevin Seals.and a host of aunts, uncles,nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
