Ellen J. Babbs

Calling hours Friday, July 9, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at White's Funeral Home Chapel. Private family service at 11:00 a.m. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Services will be livestreamed and flowers can be sent to the funeral home. 

Ellen Jean Babbs was born on October, 30 1938 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Karl Brown and Ethel Bozeman Brown.  Ellen went home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2021 at the age of 82.

Ellen met her husband the late Thurman Babbs. Ellen attended East High School in Columbus Ohio.  While attending she was a member of the Girls Glee Club, Hall Monitor, English Club, Spirituals and Room Monitor.  She graduated from East High in 1956.  Ellen work at the Depot (DCSC) and then she went to work for the State of Ohio, with the Bureau of Workers Compensation for 30 years as a clerk, before she retired.

Ellen was a life-long member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she was baptized since the age of 5.  While attending she was a member of the following groups.  The Young Peoples Choir and Usher Board, The Chancel Choir, Ladies Usher Board, The Recreation Committee, Class #7 Sunday School.  The 90th Anniversary Committee, Youth Committee Chair.

Ellen enjoyed, shopping trips, playing the piano, family gatherings, collecting photos of family and friends, visiting local churches.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents Karl and Ethel Brown, and her husband Thurman Babbs.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son Christopher, grandchildren Raven, Brein (Tone), Makiah, 4 great grandchildren, a host of cousins and friends.
