Emily Wills Obituary

Emily Rochelle was born in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Master Sargent Lloyd G. Wills and Regina V. Dobbins Wills. She was preceded in death also by her brother, Lawrence (Larry) F. Wills. Emily Rochelle retired from Ross/Abbott Laboratories after 30 plus years of service.  She also, worked for The American Red Cross and ABC Home Health Agency for a few years, after retirement.

Emily (Rochelle), and her family traveled extensively during her father's military service.  They lived in Harrisburg, PA, Louisiana, England, Panama (where she went to bull fights and cock fights with her dad), Grand Forks, ND, San Antonio, TX, and in 1964, the family moved to Columbus, Ohio. Rochelle said that she loved Canada, when she would go to the tulip festivals and the beaches.

She attended Edgewood, High School in San Antonio and St. Phillips College.  In high school, she was told that she had so many extra "credits" that she was selected to do, half day classes for "field nursing" and do half day classes in the high school poem.  She volunteered for numerous charities, such as the Martin Luther King Center of Columbus, Ohio, the Make a Wish Foundation, the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, and the St. Jude’s Foundation.

Rochelle always felt that it was hard for her to talk about herself, because she grew up thinking that was a "vain" thing to do.  But, to us, her family, she was wonderful and kind, and her smile and laugh will always be unforgettable.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved brother, Michael Wills and her baby, Sassy, her cat.  Cousins Gabrielle Thomas, California, James E. Dobbins, Georgia, Patty Hailey, Detroit, MI, sister-in-law, Janie Wills of Columbus, a niece, Tanisha Riley, Detroit, three great-nephews (Davon, Elontra, and Eric), and her work family of Ross/Abbott Nutrition, and a host of other friends.

Family will receive friends Thursday, March 21, 2019, 2:00pm until time of service at 3:00pm at the Chapel of WHITE’S FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 867 S. JAMES ROAD, COLS, OH 43227, BENJAMIN F. “BENNY” WHITE, JR, FUNERAL DIRECTOR, (614)947-1123, whitesfh867.com.
