July 22, 1971 – September 18, 2024 Ernest Sidney Hairston, 53, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on September 18, 2024. Born on July 22, 1971, Sidney was a beloved member of his community, known for his infectious smile, lively spirit, and boundless creativity.

A devoted family man, Sidney took great pride in caring for those he loved, especially his daughters, Quaylyn and Sydney, who were the light of his life. He was a dedicated father who always ensured his daughters felt supported and loved. His caring nature extended beyond his family, as he was known to help anyone in need, always ready with a helping hand or a kind word.

Sidney was a Centenary United Methodist Church member, where his faith and love for his community were central to his life. His involvement in the church allowed him to strengthen his bonds with loved ones and give back to others.

After graduating from Beechcroft High School in 1989, Sidney self-published a book of poetry, sharing his creative voice with his community. He had a passion for sports, spending countless hours playing flag football and basketball with close friends, and often organizing live events that brought people together.

With his hands-on skills, Sidney spent years as a contractor, remodeling homes and creating beautiful spaces. He had an eye for design and a gift for building, he was a true craftsman and creative at heart.

Sidney was predeceased by his father, Willie J. Malone, and mother, Elizabeth A. Hairston, and brothers David and Donald Hairston. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Quaylyn and Sydney Hairston, and his siblings: Denise (Aaron) Johnson, James (Monica) Hairston, Mary Malone, and Willie (Tiffany) Malone. He also leaves behind his beloved aunts Patricia (Jeffrey) West, Lorraine (Ronald) Southerland; and Uncle Samuel (Veronica) Grayson, along with many nieces and nephews.

Sidney was the life of every party, whether dancing, cracking a joke, beatboxing for friends to freestyle over, or simply lighting up the room with his smile. His joy was infectious, and his fun-loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Sidney leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and joy. His family, friends, church community, and all who knew him will forever hold him in their hearts as a man who truly knew how to care for others and make life brighter for everyone around him.
