Flemmon “The Cat” Wright, 71, passed away on Wednesday, June 16th, after a short illness. Flemmon was born April 8, 1950, in Glen Rogers, WV to Laura and Richard Wright. Flemmon graduated from Stratton High School where he was a star athlete and earned his nickname “Cadillac” due to his speed in track and field. He was also a star football player. After high school, Flemmon attended West Virginia State on an athletic scholarship and later moved to Washington, DC where he remained until his death.
Prior to his retirement in 2011, Flemmon worked several years as a drug and alcohol counselor. After retiring, Flemmon enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing games and bowling.
Flemmon was preceded in death by his parents, Laura and Richard Wright; brothers Harry and Robert; sisters Sylvia Howard, Ada “Darlene” Kamara, and Valerie Coleman. Left to cherish his memory are his long-term companion Virgia Robinson; daughters, Angela Michelle Nicholas and Rhonda Nicole (Anthony) Peck; son Flemmon Wright Jr.; sisters Evadean Davis, Martha Manns and Marian (Clarence) Richardson; brother Ricardo Wright. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, T’Shera (Justin) McKee, Lauhni, Flemmon III, and Nohvau Wright; great-grandchildren Jayce and Parker McKee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
Flemmon will be sadly missed by his family and friends who loved his warm personality and wonderful sense of humor. We love you but God has seen fit to take you away.
