Fletcher Lee, Jr. departed this life January 6, 2022. Family will receive friends Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 12:30 p.m. at White's Chapel. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery. Funeral service will be livestreamed via the link at the bottom of the obituary. 

A Life Well Lived

Mr. Fletcher Lee, Jr was born June 18, 1931, in West Point, Georgia to the union of Fletcher Lee and Alzater Madden Lee. De departed this life on January 6, 2022, at the age of 90 and entered eternal rest.

He was affectionately known as Bubba. Fletcher was the second of six children and the oldest son.

At an early age, Fletcher joined the Love Union Baptist Church, West Point, Georgia. He later united with the Friendship Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio and served faithfully until his death.

He graduated from Lanier High School in Lanett Alabama in 1950. He served as the president of his Senior Class.

After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and earned the rank of Sergeant. While in the army he was trained to be a Utility Lineman. Fletcher excelled in track and field and while serving in Korea, he won trophies in high jumping. He also played football. Fletcher shared a bond with his military brothers that he cherished until his passing.

He married the love of his life, the late Odell Roberts Lee on August 8, 1953. To this union four sons were born: Kenneth (Gail) Lee, Kevin Lee, Eric (Beth) Lee and Byron (Lisa) Lee, Columbus, Ohio.

Fletcher was employed by the City of Columbus as a Utility Lineman. After retiring from the City of Columbus, he was employed at Oakfield Convalescent Center and NcNabb Funeral Home.

Fletcher earned the rank of Eagle Scout as a young man. He pursued his love for Boy Scouting by serving as a Scout Leader in East Columbus, Ohio. He made a tremendous impact on the community, and the local news did a story on him.

Fletcher always imparted words of wisdom during conversations. Two of his favorite sayings were, “Family comes first” and “If you make a dollar, you save a dime.”

Fletcher enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening, boating, doing wood crafts and swimming. He taught his family the importance of knowing how to swim and made sure all his grandchildren learned to swim. He valued family and enjoyed spending time with them and helping them in any way he could.

Fletcher is preceded in death by his parents, Fletcher and Alzater Lee; wife, Odell Lee; three siblings, Edith Fanning, Sarah Baker and Calvin Lee, Sr.; son, Kenneth Lee; granddaughter, Megan Lee.

Fletcher leaves to cherish his memory his children, Kevin Lee, Eric Lee, and Byron (Lisa) Lee; All of Columbus, Ohio. Grandchildren, Tira (Ronald) Lee-Taylor Te-Sha Lee, Devin (Kelly) Lee, Tiffany Lee, Dominick Lee, Brandon Lee, Morgan Lee, Joshua Lee and Byron Lee, Jr.; Great Grandchildren, Ronea Taylor, James (Tone) McAfee, Jr, Reonna Taylor, Ricky Hughes, Casey Lee, Miyah Lee-Gaines, Kaylyn Lee, Marshawn Lee-Gaines, Kennia Hughes, Bryelle Lee, Kenneth Hughes, Camden Lee, Kyler Lee, Caiden Lee, Caleb Lee, Nasiyah DeVore and Ramir Alexander Smith; Sisters, Florine L. Griggs, Lanett Alabama and Mary P. Potts (Donald), West Point, Georgia; Special cousin, Willie L Sambula, Lanett Alabama; Special Aunt, Lousie Roberts Brown and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Fletcher Lee, Jr. touched the lives of many more during his lifetime.
