Fred L. Johnson

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 5081 Carbondale Drive, Columbus, OH 43232. Interment: Eastlawn Cemetery

Fred Lester Johnson Sr. was born to Lester and Elizabeth Johnson on April 1, 1937. Fred graduated from East High School. He was enlisted in the United States Air Force from March 1957 to March 1961. Upon returning home, he began working at the United States Postal Service. He served at this job for 37 years. Fred Married Mary Arlene Moss in Dec. 1959. From this union came 4 children. They were happily married until Mary’s passing in 1994. Fred Loved his dogs Baby, Scruffy, and Xander. He also loved to collect coins and do dot to dot books.

Fred was preceded in death by his Wife Mary Arlene, Daughter Carlisa Renee, Parents Lester and Elizabeth Johnson, and four sisters.

Left to cherish his memory is his son Fred (Brenda) Johnson Jr., daughters Jenice (Laurie) Johnson and Tamyra Johnson, grandchildren Sabrina Smith, DeShannon Shaw Jr., Michael, Anthony, Jeff,  Justin, and Marcus (Courtney) Johnson. 21 Great grandchildren and 2 great – great grandchildren, and Ravon Ashley Johnson.
