Geneva Anderson was born November 02, 1930, to Warwick Jr. and Mary Virginia Anderson in Lynchburg, VA. She departed this life on September 18, 2024, at Mount Carmel East Hospital surrounded by family.
Geneva was educated in the Lynchburg Public School system and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1948. Three years after graduating from high school, on December 12, 1951, she married Clarence Davis and moved to Pittsburgh, PA. This move would not only change her residence but also herald a transformation in her spiritual journey. At the age of 22 years old, on December 28, 1952, Geneva was baptized in the Name of Jesus under the pastorate of the late Bishop Freeman Thomas at Bethlehem Temple in Pittsburgh. A few months later, she received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. This experience led her to dedicate her life to the service of ministry, and she served in various capacities at Bethlehem Temple for forty-one (41) years.
In April of 1983, Clarence, her husband of nearly 32 years, passed away. She remained a widow for eleven (11) years. The Lord was gracious, and Geneva met Arthur Watson in Indianapolis, IN through a mutual friend. They were married by Bishop Nathaniel Jordan on August 6, 1994. After her marriage, she relocated to Columbus, OH, and became a member of the Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith (CCAF), where she remained a faithful member until her passing.
Geneva was an ordained Evangelist in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (P.A.W.) and was used by the Lord to serve God’s people within her church and community. She dedicated her service and time to the following ministries: Founded the CCAF Food Pantry in May 2006 and served as its Director until it was dissolved in 2021; CCAF Bereavement Committee Director; Active Sunday School Member and Sunday School Secretary for many years; Coordinated church trips to the P.A.W. Region V Christian Education meetings; Altar Worker; Chaplin at The Ohio State University Hospital East for fifteen (15) years; Mt. Carmel East Hospital Hospice Unit for twelve (12) years; Regularly visited the sick and shut-in. Her unwavering dedication was recognized in 2015, when she became a Jefferson Awards Finalist for her exceptional volunteer service to the Central Ohio Community, a testament to her selfless contributions and love for others.
In addition to her spiritual pursuits, Geneva was a woman of many talents. She had a love for water and was an avid swimmer. She was an excellent seamstress and specialized in drapery and wedding garments.
Geneva’s favorite scripture, Psalm 30:5, exemplified her resilient spirit: "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Although she did not have biological children from either marriage, Geneva's heart swelled with affection for her spiritual sons and daughters, whom she cherished dearly. Her legacy is one of love, service, and deep faith, leaving behind a profound impact on all who knew her.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Arthur Watson; parents Warwick Jr. and Mary Virginia; brother, Warwick Anderson III; sisters Lucinda Booker, Evelyn Harris, Barbara Lewis, and Lillian White. She leaves to cherish her memory, niece Phyllis (Franklin) West, Lynchburg, VA; spiritual daughters, Elizabeth Jones, Angela (Darryl) Davis, Sharlene (Ray) Campbell; spiritual son and caregiver, Terence Banks; special family, Jerry Watson, Kevin & Brenda Robinson, Emma Robinson, Aaron & Pat Cain, Brenda Mitchell, spiritual granddaughter Alicia Lee, and a host of other family, friends, and church family.
