On Sunday, May 3, 2020, George H. Collins Jr. loving husband and father of four children went to his rest at the age of 89

George was born on January 8, 1931 in Columbus Ohio to George and Catherine Collins. He attended Grove City High School and went on to join the Army. While in the Army he served tour of duties in the Pacific and Europe Commands, stationed in Korea, Japan, and Germany. He finished the last years of service with the Ohio Army National Guard of which he retired after 23 years of service.

On July 14, 1957 he married Juanita Banks, they raised four children Gerald, Patricia, Michael, and Catherine.

George had a passion for fishing, he loved to sit on the riverbank waiting for the big catch. He loved music, it brought him so much joy to sing in the choir and especially with the Men’s Ministry ensemble. George was a faithful member of Zion Christian Assembly until he was unable to attend because of his health.

 Family was especially important to him, he was so full of life at the family gatherings, laughing and joking with everyone. He was loved and admired by family and friends and by all that had the pleasure of meeting him. He found his way into your heart with his jovial spirit, kind heart and his irresistible smile. He was known for his love of a good joke. He loved old cartoons and westerns.

George was proceeded in death by his mother Catherine, his father George, and his son Michael. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Juanita, Son Gerald (Sharon Collins), his daughters, Patricia (Glen Prunty), Catherine (Tony Smith), and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews along with two special sisters-in-law Rosemary Alexander and Joyce Rivers.
