In Loving Memory of George Reese

April 5, 1941 – July 16, 2026

George Reese, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Columbus, Ohio, on July 16, 2026.

Born on April 5, 1941, in Augusta, Georgia, George was the fifth of eight children born to the late Essie and Willie Reese. In 1943, the Reese family relocated to Columbus, Ohio, where George grew up and attended Columbus City Schools.

A dedicated public servant and veteran, George honorably served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he devoted his career to helping others through his work with the State of Ohio and the American Red Cross, where he worked faithfully until his well-earned retirement.

George was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Essie and Willie Reese; his sister, Mary (Navarro) DeBose; his brothers, William Reese, Michael Reese, and James Reese; and his special friend, Margaret Seltzer.

He leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy his sons George Rodney Reese and Jason Reese; his granddaughter Ava Marie Reese (Kylin) Whitehead; his brothers Thomas Reese and Herman (Patricia) Reese; and his sister Gladys Reese Smith. George also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
