Gerald Joseph Grant was born on July 17, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio. He is preceded in death by parents Howard J. and Garnetta (Tribune) Grant, Siblings, Jackie Turney, Ruth Ann Sutton, and Sharon Grant.
He leaves to mourn his wife Evonne Grant, Brother, William (Magdalena) Grant, Sister, Susan (Don) Rice, Uncle Robert (Marion) Tribune, Children, Gerald Jr. (Marie) Grant, Terry Grant, Monique Morales, Cherri (Darnell Sr.) Sheridan, Step-children, John and Herbert Smith. Grandchildren Maili, Miguel, and Selina Morales, Chase Hightower, Darnell Jr. and McKenzie Sheridan, and a host of nieces , nephews and cousins.
Gerald was a long-time member of the Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith, where his roots reach back to Washington and Donaldson under the leadership of Bishop Karl F. Smith. He often talked about how he admired Bishop Smith because he was a skilled saxophonist. While attending Central High School, Gerald joined the marching band where he enjoyed playing the saxophone.
In 1991, he retired from Battelle Research Institute with over 26 years of service. He was very passionate about cooking, especially during the holiday seasons. He was united in marriage to Evonne Merchant on September 7, 2001. Together, they enjoyed traveling to the Amish country and worshiping the Lord.
