Gizmo Jito Barnes Obituary

Gizmo Jito Barnes May 2, 2010 - March 22, 2024

Gizmo crossed over the rainbow bridge, safely at home in his bed, on his own terms.

Born in the country, he was brought home to Columbus, by his millennial mama, Cieara, to live a life of pure doggie luxury.

Gizmo was a pup of many names (Gitty Kitty, Gizzi My Nizzi, Piz, GitMo, Dennis, Fatmo, Wild Bill, Pupperoni Toni, Fat-Fat and Paw Bearer).

He was the definition of an “alpha dog.” Small, but mighty, commanding attention in every room his paws led him in. Gizmo wanted nothing from people but the “T-R-E-A-T-S.”

Gizmo came into his mommy’s life, during a very difficult time. He was a reason to face the day and keep going. He was always into something - even in the last days of his life. He never lost that puppy spunk. A toilet paper and sock thief, who was known to rip the ears off every stuffed animal he owned.

In his almost 14 years on earth, Gizmo met and made friends with hundreds of people, all over the world.

He is preceded in death by his human brother, Marshawn, Great-Great Grandma, Evelyn, Great-Grandpa Luther, fur brother Stripe, very special cousin, Hunter Bunter Green Barnes and best IG friends, Esme and Sadie.

He leaves behind his devoted mother Cieara, Nana Kelley, Paw Paw Carlton, Maw Maw Tonda, Paw Paw Greg, Nana Patricia, Dashun, extra special Auntie Tracee, His favorite guy, Shannon, Aunts Jennifer, Cortney “Short”, Michelle “MiMi”, Tiffany, Bria, Tyonna, and Sharon, Uncles Shawn “Yum”, Darvyn and Charles, cousins Brandon, Michael, Jazmine, Spencer, Kevin, Matthew (Kiana), Divinity, Tre, his favorite girl, Dayionna, Olivia, Alexia, Junie, Pop the Pittie, London and a host of others.

He’s gone from this earth, but never from our hearts. Thank you for being the best good boy to ever do it. We love you, Giz!
