The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at White's Funeral and Cremation Services, 867 S. James Road, Columbus, OH 43227. Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Garden. Livestream will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Pat Banister passed away suddenly in her home October 26, 2024 at the age of 92; her son, Michael, was with her during her final moments. She was a loving person who would go above and beyond for those she cared for as well as for people she had only recently met.

Born in Canton, Ohio February 19, 1932, her mother moved her and her five siblings to Chicago, Illinois when she was a child. Pat would meet and fall in love with her late husband, Abe Banister, late in high school and they married after college graduation in 1956.

She was a natural born teacher for over forty years with the Columbus Public Schools and loved her students, whom she referred to as "Precious Jewels". She achieved a Master's Degree from The Ohio State University and was certified to teach students from kindergarten through college.

She was baptized in the Methodist faith as a child and attended Bethany Baptist Church with her husband for decades and until her health prevented her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Horace B. and Hattie (Valentine) Lile, her siblings Mack Lile, Alfred Lile, Curtis Lile and Theresa Lile, her husband Abe Banister, and her great-niece Ahlaiah Toney.

She leaves behind her son Michael Banister, her sister Lois Randle, her nieces Mollette Randle, Zakeeyah Edwards and Cheryl (Greg) Jolly-Hansford, nephew Marlon (Carolyn) Randle, great niece Diamond Randle,  great nephews Marlon (Kierra) Randle II and Dana Toney, and great-great nephew Marlon Randle III.
