Hattie Ann Truss was born January 15, 1936 to Alfred L. and Ann Marie E. (Conway) Key in Columbus, Ohio. Hattie departed this life on Friday, March 19, 2021. She graduated from Central High School and retired from Defense Construction Supply Center (DCSC) after 36 years of service. Hattie attended Mt. Vernon Ave A.M.E. Church from childhood through her adult life and became a Fourth Stewardess Board Member along with serving as a faithful church secretary for a number of years. Hattie enjoyed family functions and family picnics, she would often spend her days listening to gospel music and pretended to play the piano Hattie enjoyed watching television, working on puzzles and good conversation. Hattie had a quirky personality that could sway most and entertain many. She was known for saying “I ain’t da one” followed a wink of her eye and a point of her finger.
Hattie was preceded in death by her husband Willie “Bill” Truss; parents, Alfred and Mary Key; brothers, Alfred and Harley Key; paternal grandparents, Atcheson and Christine Conway; Sister-in-law Reta Key.
Hattie was survived by her very special nephew and caregivers Rodricus and Taneequa (Jeter) Byers; brother-in-law’s, Rev. Joseph (Barbara) Truss of Queens Village, NY; Charles (Annette) Truss of Moreno Valley, CA; Sister-in-law’s Betty J. Brisco, JoAnn Brisco, Eleanor Truss of Cols, OH and Lydia Truss of Inkster, MI along with a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
