Howard L. Morris, Jr.

Calling Hours (only 10 at a time), Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at White's Funeral Home Chapel. Private Family Service (50 maximum) at 10:00 a.m., tickets are required for entry. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery. Services will be live streamed. The family will receive flowers at the funeral home.

Howard Landon Morris Jr., 71, was born January 7, 1950 in Anawalt, West Virginia, to parents Howard L. Morris, Sr. and Abbie Morris.  He was the youngest of 4 children. Howard passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021, at his and his wife’s residence, under the care of Hospice. Howard was baptized in his early years as a child. Howard lived in Anawalt, West Virginia, in his youth, but his parents decided to move to Columbus, Ohio, when he was 14 years old. He graduated from Linden McKinley High school in 1968, and went on to work for, and retire from Lucent Technologies, after 33 years of service. Howard enjoyed spending time with his family. When he wasn’t working to provide for his family, his hobbies were fishing and traveling.

Howard was united in marriage to Laverne P. (Winston) Morris on January 25, 1970, and were blessed with LaVonna, Angie, and Shalawn Morris.

Howard was a member of Trinity Baptist church. He was Emeritus Deacon, and enjoyed serving as deacon until his health started to decline and he could no longer serve. Howard loved his Pastor and church family. He really enjoyed his talks with Pastor Davis while in the hospital.

Preceded in death by parents, Howard and Abbie Morris Sr., brother; Robert L. Morris, sister; Paulette O. Goforth, Mother-in-law; Maxine V. (Winston) Downs, and brother-in-law; William Russell II.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories, his loving wife; LaVerne Morris, children; LaVonna Morris, Angie Morris, and Shalawn (Vincent) Tucker, like daughter (special niece); Tasha V. Buford, sister; Jamerilla (Joslyn) Fyffe, sister-in-law; Teresa (Edward) McConnell, grandchildren; Robert L. Morris, Alexcia E. McGee, Sheree C. Berger, and Savanna V. Tucker, great-grandchildren; William Alls Jr., Ricky L. Berger, Darius Huss, and one on the way, and a host of, Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Howard was surrounded by family on his last days, and though there was suffering, he held on to God’s promises, and knew his day of glory to see the Lord was coming soon. He will forever rest in the arms of our Lord.
