Jacqueline Houpe Born on December 5,1954 lived a life filled with love, strength, compassion, and devotion to her family and friends. Although her earthly journey has ended, her spirit remains alive in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. We celebrate her life, honor her memory, and find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind.
Jacqueline graduated from Central High School. Served as a cashier at Capital University and was a receptionist for over 30 plus years. She loved to shoot pool, go to the casino, travel with family, and eat breakfast at Tommy’s Diner.
To know our mom, was to know how much she loved her Girls and Grandkids. She had a heart of gold, but at the same time, she had a mean streak that you could feel with just one look. I’m going to miss our late-night talks, Scioto Down trips, our laugh sessions and most of all hearing you tell me you love me. - Tiona
The hardest part of missing you knowing you are my strength, my protector, and my backbone especially when I lost my kids “our children”. I always knew when She was mad, she always called my by name “CHERLISE”, and not being able to have our morning gossip sessions. - Weesie
She leaves to cherish her memory to her husband Gregory Houpe, and her beloved daughters, Cherlise Houpe (Tiant Battle) and Tiona Houpe (Anthony Clifton); grandchildren Tiann Tillman, KaMiyah Houpe, Jacqueline Houpe, RayKwon Houpe and Tiann Tillman; great-granddaughter Tanayia Davis; special daughter, Darnetta Scott (Constin "Dad" Miller); special granddaughter La’Niece Brittani Brown (Journee Brown); and many special daughters; sisters Regina Packer and Toni Thornton; brothers Ron Grinston and John Grinston Jr.; favorite cousin Yvette Dimmy; favorite nephew Dwayne “Suga Wooga” Dawson, Lifelong friend Benard Williams (our kids father) Friend Sylvia Harrell, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Betty Tucker; father, John Grinston Sr.; special mother, Lena Mae Tucker; brothers, Nathaniel Thomas, and Shawn Grinston; granddaughter, Demetriona Houpe; and grandson, Tanknai Houpe.
