James Cleveland Ross, was born in Gaffney, South Carolina on April 04, 1945 to the late Broadus Ross, Sr. and Effie L. Hemphill-Moody of Gaffney, South Carolina. 

Blessed with 78 years of life, James departed this life on December 14, 2023, in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by family. One of four boys, he is proceeded in death by his parents; Siblings, Wayne (Jerry) Ross and Broadus (Ed) Ross Jr; Daughter, Dawana Farr; Grandson, David K. Burkes Jr. and Cousin James (Butch) Littlejohn Jr. (Gaffney, South Carolina).

James affectionately known as “JC”, grew up in S. Carolina where he completed his schooling before enlisting in The United States Air Force.  After serving many years in the Air Force and several tours of duty, he was honorably discharged.  James, finally settled in Columbus, Ohio where he was employed by the United State Postal Services.  He retired after working 30 years as a postal worker in 1983.

 While living in Ohio, James settled into his life as a hard worker, son, brother, father, uncle “JC”, grandfather and a friend to many. James loved riding his motorcycle and spending most of his time in his garage. He also loved early morning fishing, being outdoors, planting small gardens, music, and spending time with family and friends.

James leaves to cherish his memory and legacy to his 6 children: Tracey Farr, LaShana Ross, Donna Massey, Tameka Lipscomb, Erica Farr, and Lisa Carter (North Carolina); 15 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren; Brother Dock (Keisha) Ross; Favorite Nephew Demico Ross; Special Friend-Marcus James; and a host of many other aunts, uncles, family, and friends.
