James Tate Jones was born in Ripley, Mississippi on June 3, 1962 to the late Nora Elaine Jones. He departed this life on November 14, 2020.
James Tate accepted Christ at an early age and he loved the lord until his departure. He also attended Columbus City Schools. Tate was united in holy matrimony to Joyce Johnson on December 27, 2017. He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and an awesome friend.
James Tate was a hard and dedicated worker until he was diagnosed with cancer while being a fork-lift driver for many years with TechnaGlass Company. He also was an employee with Nolan & Son Lawncare Service.
Also known as “Jim Jones" he had a passion for painting and this brotha was smooth with a paint brush. His smile was priceless and he had a laugh that would make your soul and spirit feel good & light up. Such a gentle giant he was.
Tate's favorite things consisted of watching The First 48, Forensic Files, The Ohio State Buckeyes and The Dallas Cowboys. He always loved celebrating family gatherings and always excited for a good party on any occasion. He also enjoyed listening to music (especially Glen Jones) reminiscing about the good old days, loving his wife, daughter, grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He collected ball caps and loved a good pedicure. His Sixth Street family (The Bell's) will always be dear to his heart. The love and bond that he shared with his extended family (The Dimmy's) will always be cherished. The brotherhood/ friendship and number one since day one (Carlton) will always go down in the books as "One Love".
